WHAT IS PELARGONIUM USED FOR TODAY?
Alcohol extract made from Pelargonium sidoides is very effective as a treatment for various respiratory problems, including acute bronchitis, the common cold, sinusitis, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis.
Large studies have been used to substantiate the uses of Pelargonium. The studies conducted require 468 adults with recent onset of acute bronchitis who were given either placebo or a standard alcohol extract of Pelargonium sidoides 3 times daily for a week. The results showed a significantly greater improvement in symptoms in the treatment group as compared to the placebo group.
To ensure validity, this study was repeated with different amounts of infected adults, and once again the group who were treated with the pelargonium extract recovered much faster than those treated with placebo. The group who recovered faster were able to return to work in no more than two days without having to worry about being slowed down by illness.
Shake well before use. 4-6 sprays 2 times daily. Can be taken with fruit juice, herbal tea, or water.
Formulated by a qualified registered herbalist.
In clinical trials enrolling a total of over 2,500 adults and children, use of the tested, standardized extract produced few side effects, other than the usual occasional allergic reactions or digestive upset. However, comprehensive safety testing has not been completed. There is no reliable evidence regarding safety in children under the age of 6, pregnant or nursing women, or people with severe liver or kidney disease.
