Overview

This is used to treat most prostate problems and benign enlargement of the prostate. It is known as the best herb for treating Prostate problems. Saw palmetto, isolated from the berries of a small palm tree. A traditional Native American remedy that it reduces prostate enlargement by inhibiting the synthesis of growth-stimulating DHT and promoting DHT elimination by lowering estrogen levels. Many clinical studies demonstrate its effectiveness. In fact, the herb works better in treating prostate enlargement than the frequently prescribed drug Proscar. It was effective in nearly 90% of patients after 4-6 weeks, while Proscar works in fewer than half the patients after a year. Since the drug Proscar is less effective, it is much more expensive, and its major side effect is erectile dysfunction, choosing saw palmetto seems self-evident. It is also known to be a Libido Enhancer.

What is Saw Palmetto?

A dwarf palm tree native to the southeast regions of North America and especially abundant in Florida, Georgia, Cuba, and the Bahamas. It grows in sandy soil and gets its name from the sharp, saw-like teeth on the stalks that attach the tree’s leaves to its stem. The saw palmetto tree produces dark berries that contain a large seed.

What is it used for?

Known to be nutritional, diuretic, sedative, aphrodisiac, and to have cough-reducing properties. This is used to treat most prostate problems and benign enlargement of the prostate.

What causes DHT to increase?

The amount of dihydrotestosterone present in the body from day to day depends on the amount of testosterone present. When levels of testosterone increase, more of it is converted to dihydrotestosterone and so levels of dihydrotestosterone therefore also increase as a result.

The berries are eaten whole or dried and used to make tea. Dried and ground saw palmetto can also be purchased in capsule or tablet form. These supplements contain 75–90% fats depending on the extraction method. They typically provide higher amounts of beneficial plant compounds like vitamin E and other antioxidants compared to the raw fruit
